Timeline: Metro Crisis

14:00

Jo sends press releases to various media organisations, including the Metro.

15:50

The Metro rings Jo to approach the idea of a story and laughs about a rival paper taking offence at our mission statement.  No reference is made to changing it.

17:45

The Metro rings back to ask if the campaign could be a bit more positive.

17:55

Lauren is despatched to round up anyone still working to put a more posiitive slant on the mission statement.

18:20

Lauren speaks to the Metro and is asked to send through proposed changes.  Minor changes are sent.

21:00

The Metro emails to decline the story.  Lauren replies to ask why.

21:35

Jo rings the Metro and is told someone will ring her back. 

21:45

The Metro rings back and confirms that the story has been dropped.

 

1 June

09:15

The team is brought up to speed on the developemnts during the morning meeting.  A discussion of the merits of changing the statement ensues.

10:00

The first vote "confirms" the original statement.  Bizarrely, most people seem unhappy with the result.

10:15

Further changes are vetoed out of frustration.  This is rescinded.

10:20

There is a second vote.  This time, the current mission statement is adopted.

13:00

Professional advice is sought.  It is recommended that we return to the original statement.  There is support for another vote.

14:00

A second professional is sounded out for advice.  It is again recommended that we return to the original statement.

14:30

A final vote is taken.  The chance to return to the original mission statement is declined and the current statement is kept.
