Gone With The Wings

Today is your last chance to visit a unique  sculptural creation; located next to Liverpool Street station, in the middle of Broadgate Circle, a multi-channel sound installation welcomes tired workers from the City into a series of arcades.

It juxtaposes the sound of moth wings (recorded in upstate New York) and the buzzing of humming birds (recorded in the Brazilian Amazon).

The Smallest of Wings - by artist Stephen Vitiello- creates a surprising environmental experience. You find yourself looking around wanting to climb up a tree to get a good vantage point. But obviously there is no tree, just financial offices and a brasserie. At least you can take your shoes off and attempt a Pretty Woman impersonation.

As a free bonus to this original experience, you are offered a bottle of water. I guess this is done to make you realise how close you are to the 'source' of civilization.

Artist Stephen Vitiello is an electronic musician and media specialist. His work has been exhibited internationally at venues including the 2006 Sydney Biennale and the 2002 Whitney Biennale.

Vitiello addresses the sculptural properties of sound. But you may also be tempted by a convivial picnic with friends and fair trade wine.
